What is ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001)?
ISO 45001, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, (officially ISO 45001:2018) is an internationally applied British Standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
It exists to help all kinds of organizations put in place demonstrably sound occupational health and safety performance. It is a widely recognized and popular occupational health and safety management system
The Standard was developed in response to the international demand for a widely recognised standard according to which safer workplace conditions could be created and hazards controlled. The subsequent Standard provides the necessary framework in which an organisation can develop controls and processes, and integrate such into a single risk management system.
It is not industry or organisation sized specific and can therefore be implemented by small and large companies alike within any industry. In essence, the ISO 45001:2018 can be used as a guideline for the creation of the safest possible workplace to meet statutory, customer and standard requirements.
